COUNSELING SERVICES IN PRIMARY EDUCATION

Abstract

This research work is theoretical in nature. It focused on counselling services in primary education. As noted in the study, counselling in primary school is very important and must be supported by the head-teachers, parents and government. The primary level of education forms part of the foundation of every child’s education which if solidly made, the skills acquired will help him to live a functional life. The benefits of counselling to the recipients were x-rayed. The study indicated different counselling approaches in schools. The research also indicated the rudiments of counselling at the level which primary school counsellors should be exposed to so as to meet the needs of primary school children.
