REDUCING THE INCIDENCE OF CONTAGIOUS DISEASES WITH FOOT-OPERATED HAND WASHING AND SANITIZING DISPENSER
Abstract
Washing of hand and sanitizing help to avoid contagious diseases being spread. It helps in the reduction of harmful bacteria present on hands. Research has it that washing and sanitizing hands has great shield against the bacteria, virus, and other parasites. This was seen in the recent outburst of the global pandemic of COVID-19, as various studies have shown that the spread of corona virus is stem by the use of hand washing and application of sanitizers. However, there is still a risk of contracting the virus in public places, where many people touch the same wash hand bow and sanitizer bottle. The virus can easily spread from one person to the other, if a person who is a carrier of the virus touches the sanitizer bottle. The foot-operated sanitizer dispenser totally eliminates the use of hands required for pushing the sanitizer bottle pump. This paper presents the report of the fabrication of a foot-operated hand washing sanitizer dispenser machine. It explains the various aspects of a basic foot- operated hand washing and sanitizer dispenser which include its mechanism, parts, materials, etc. and its usefulness in reducing the spread of contagious diseases. The fabricated machine was very functional and dispensed water and sanitizer effectively.
